Bowen Therapy is a soft tissue technique that is effective for the treatment of many acute and chronic conditions including muscle and joint degeneration, sports injuries, pregnancy and childbirth related issues, posture-related problems, RSI, digestive system problems and more.

Clients consistently report relief from pain, better sleep, more energy, improved circulation and lymphatic drainage, and a restored sense of health and wellbeing.

The Bowen cross-fibre moves performed on muscles, tendons and nerve bundles at specific points on the body, stimulate the autonomic nervous system, switching on the parasympathetic nervous system and triggering a shift from “fight or flight” mode into “rest and repair” mode. During treatment, many clients experience deep relaxation as they switch into parasympathetic mode and even fall asleep.

Bowen Technique is a gentle and powerful modality that stimulates the body’s innate (natural) ability to recover, prompting it to return to optimal health and wellbeing, within its capacity. A Bowen treatment generally ranges from 30 to 60 minutes and involves a series of moves with periodic brief waits to enable the body to process and respond to the signals it is receiving.

The Bowen Technique has been particularly effective in treating many common injuries and musculoskeletal issues of the ankle, knee, shoulder, lower back and neck. Bowen therapy often succeeds where other treatments and modalities have failed.

Some of the problems that have been helped by the Bowen Technique include:

  • Asthma
  • Dizziness
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Headaches
  • Repetitive stress injury (RSI)
  • Whiplash
  • Dental or facial pain
  • Many muscle or joint pains of unknown origin
  • Emotional stress and anxiety
  • PTSD

Most issues resolve in 3 treatments, although longstanding or chronic conditions may take longer.
